Inspired by friends last night, but I am sure everyone can appreciate these photos…
Kindergarten – not too bad. Still a trace of cuteness.
1st Grade – Something went horribly wrong.
- My glasses appear to be upside down
- My hair is butchered
- I am wearing a turtleneck – I hate turtlenecks and this picture may be why.
- My Mom would coach us not to show our teeth and I listened by smiling with my mouth closed.
Other than that…this is a great picture
2nd Grade – Apparently glasses that looked like they were on upside down were all the rage. I was so hip! I am a girl so I am not sure what is going on with the spike / mullet look. Seriously, another freaking turtleneck?! Gramps must have entered the picture and gave us the go ahead to show our chuckies.
3rd Grade – Does this count as a turtleneck? Now I am certain that this is where my hatred for turtlenecks came from. This picture my sister, Brandy did my hair. I remember her throwing the brush across the room because my hair was so thick and was nearly impossible to do. She would hurt her fingers trying to clasp the barrette. So the fact the the barrette is crooked doesn’t matter because at least it was in. Too bad I didn’t get this picture a few months earlier when my perm was fresher. Oh, and look my glasses don’t appear to be upside down! Mom must have won out on the showing of the teeth this year.
4th grade – My sister, Timmie did my hair in this picture. She must have given up on any sort of hair accessory. This sweater was a hand-me-down from her. Boy did she have great taste in sweaters. I believe she actually wore this sweater in a school picture as well. A beauty indeed. Too bad this picture wasn’t a full body picture so you could have seen my frosted fold over jeans, 3 pairs of socks and high top LA Gears. Bummer.
5th Grade – This picture is from when I lived in Florida. We had just had swimming practice so we had to come back to school and get ready for school pictures. A girl named Kristy helped me do my hair. Looking back, I am pretty sure she was sabotaging me. As you can tell from all of my pictures they did not have non-glare glasses back in the day. Apparently the didn’t have glass that wouldn’t cover your entire face either.
6th Grade – I got contacts! They hurt my eyes so badly, which is why I look as if I had been crying all morning. My poor hair. It is so thick. I guess layers were not invented yet.
7th grade – What do you do with incredibly thick hair?! You perm it! I was waiting for my teeth to come in.
7th grade was the year I developed a crush on my husband. I thought he was so nice and smart. I loved his eyes and smile. The mullet was just the icing on the cake.
8th grade – My perm was growing out. I was pretty proud of my Limited dress with the pearl buttons.
9th grade – Yikes! I had awful acne, which totally sucked. My teeth are straight though so that is a plus! My hair is looking a little greasy.
10th grade – This is the year I realized never to wear white in pictures. To this day I will never where white in pictures. Even my wedding dress was ivory. What a great lesson to learn in the 10th grade. I also learned that there is such a thing as your hair being too long. I was grateful my bout with acne had passed.
11th grade – I discovered black (or navy) are my colors. I also embraced my extremely thick hair this year.
12th grade – Embracing the black again (although I think we had to wear the gown thing). This is the same necklace that I wore in my wedding.
There you have my 13 years of school pictures. I did learn some valuable lessons from these, one being I will never let my girls have a perm. My older daughter also has the advantage of me understanding super thick hair. Hopefully she will appreciate my knowledge of it.
Here is her kindergarten Spring picture…
What a cutie! She can show her chuckies all she wants. I had no clue they had such a beautiful garden at her school.
Love it… my faves are definitely 2nd grade and Marty’s mullet!
OMG!! That is freakin’ hilarious!!!! I do not even want to see mine. Those HUGE glasses are awesome!
Malaina told me tonight she had thick hair just like Easy!
I bet I can dig up some that we did over. I tried to tell you the glasses were too big and the hair too curly, but you had a mind of your own and wanted your own style. So I let you go with it. I guess that’s where you get your creativity from.
Malaina looks gorgeous as always!!!! Ames – I always remember you complaining about your heavy hair giving you headaches!!! Sometimes I thought your hair weighed more than you!!! hahahahaha!!!
